Welcome to
Santa Cruz Swing Festival
About
This festival is a celebration of the joy of Lindy Hop. Over the past five years, Santa Cruz’s swing scene has been steadily growing, bringing connection and fun to the local dance community. What started small has grown into a scene full of playfulness, music, and dance.
This event is our way of sharing that excitement beyond Santa Cruz — welcoming dancers from all over to join us for great music, inspiring dances, and a weekend that shares the spirit and life of Lindy Hop.
The Event
This is a dance workshop festival. We offer Lindy Hop classes, evening dances with live music, late night dances, performances, games, and contests. You can sign up for all of it, or just some of it.
What is our Code of Conduct?
Read our code of conduct.
Lindy Hop
Lindy Hop is a partner dance with its origin in 1920’s and 30’s Harlem, New York. It is an African-American dance that brought together many smaller jazz dances that preceded it to become what has been called America's folk dance. Learn more.
How do partnered classes work?
Partnered means that you will be dancing with another person. Students will rotate during the course of the class, so you will be dancing with multiple students. You are free to opt out of rotation if you and your partner prefer.
What if I do not know Lindy Hop?
No problem! Sign up for our Beginner level when purchasing your tickets. No experience necessary :)
What are partnered dancing roles?
Partnered dancing takes a leader and a follower. Anyone can be a leader or a follower, but you have to stick to your chosen role for all track classes.
